Hayama International School was established in September 2009 and is located in the western part of Yokosuka city (South of Hayama). We have been providing all-English educational programs to children for over 13 years.
Our Shirokane campus is the first expansion of Hayama International School.
Holding true to our main campus beliefs, we strive to provide the optimal learning environment for children.
Upon our return from the United States, we were searching for a school that our children could continue their education in English and maintain the skills they had learned while living overseas. We explored many schools in our area that provided English programs; however, we felt that their focus was too centered on academics.
Based on our experiences in the U.S., we felt it was extremely important for children to be able to play, think and learn through daily activities.
Our concern was that the methods of educating steal time away from children’s natural development through curiosity and exploration.
It is this belief that fostered the development of our approach to early childhood education at Hayama International School
After our search to find a kindergarten fitting our educational needs proved in vein,we decided to start our own. We leased a one bedroom apartment and carried out the renovations ourselves, all the while trying to provide the most ideal learning environment for children. After ten years of operation, we maintain the practice of “everything is for our children”.
Our main branch in Hayama is graced with the surroundings of beautiful nature, and our Shirokane campus inhabits a central metropolitan area where the street is lined with Ginko trees. While the two locations do not share the same style environment, they both allow for the experience of the four seasons, great sunshine and a pleasant breeze.
It is a place where wildlife and people can co-exist in harmony, while providing an environment filled with the warmth of people.
Hayama International School provides a wonderful place for children to spend their childhood.
Similar to our Hayama campus, we strongly believe that Shirokane provides an ideal environment where children can feel free and relaxed and be motivated to explore their own curiosity to the fullest.
To succeed in the current global society, unfortunately the ability to communicate in English is not enough. One must develop strong interpersonal communication skills, as well.
English communication is a strong tool; however, it is most important to learn to use that “tool” effectively through the development of physical and mental strength and the ability to adapt to your surroundings on a daily basis.
Through our educational philosophy of “Play, Think and Learn”, we strive to create an environment that inspires children to learn to be independent, responsible, respectful to others and to increase curiosity and creativity.
These characteristics are essential to developing the skills to excel in language development and to support one’s place in the global community.
At Hayama International School, our goal is to set a positive example for the children.
We appreciate each child that walks through our doors and learn much from our students during our time of interaction. Our hope is that they learn the value of being respectful and warm hearted and strive to be a positive influence to others.
By creating a caring, loving environment for children to explore and learn, we hope to provide a great example for their bright futures and wish them the warmest of
