AFTER SCHOOLKids Club

Hayama International School offers a variety of Afterschool classes. Based on the school concept of 'Play Think and Learn', each class will be taught by an English instructor, involving exciting and challenging activities only in English. We offer various courses for different age levels, tailored to the students' level. Students can enjoy learning English in an interactive and engaging environment to help give them a global perspective.

PROGRAMS INFORMATION

Basic

Tuesday 3:30-4:30
'Rhythmique English' The goals of the Rhythmique program is to introduce students to the world of rhythm, music, dance and English. Students will work with musical tools, such as the metronome, and play instruments like the tambourine, xylophone and other percussion instruments. Students will learn the words and sing to classic English songs and nursery rhymes. Students will learn the beat, rhythm, dances and movements associated with that song. Rhythmique is a fun and engaging introduction to the English language and perfect for beginners.
Wednesday 3:30-4:30
'English Through Nature' Children will interact using basic English phrases and conversation through games, songs and crafts, books, and engaging learning activities. We will reinforce their English skills of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, weather, calendar, feelings, and common vocabulary. We will learn about seasonal changes and events, such as fall and Halloween/winter and Christmas, engaging students in English through a fun, active experience.

'Intro to
Phonics A'
In Phonics A, students will work on their alphabet skills, particularly in letter recognition, identification, beginning and ending sounds, and letter formation. Students will build vocabulary and the basis for future reading skills. Phonics A Focus: Beginning and Ending Letter Sounds

Tuesday 3:30-4:30
'Science Fun' Science is the study of nature and behavior of natural things and the knowledge that we obtain about them. We can understand how the world works by through hands-on experience. Experiments are a great way for kids to interact and see how different substances and objects work together - what will happen? Do our results happen as we expect? Students will use English speaking skills through observation, asking questions, conducting experiments, and seeing the results..

'Reading with
Sight Words A'
In Sight Words A, students will strengthen their reading skills by learning 100 sights words – the most commonly used words in written English. Through reading and writing activities, as well as games, students will build their ability to read basic sentences and simple stories. Sight Words A Focus: Reading and Writing, Letter Recognition and Review
Wednesday 4:30-5:30
'Animal Kingdom' Students will use non-fiction text and pictures to talk about various animals - animal family, parts, characteristics, habitat, diet, and life cycles. We will practice phonics and vocabulary to strengthen reading skills, as well as build listening comprehension. In addition, we will focus on asking questions and improving speaking skills as we communicate about the animals we are studying. Games and movement will also be incorporated as a transition with artwork used to talk more about each animal/groups of animals.

'Reading with
Phonics B'
In Phonics B, students will strengthen their phonic skills, developing an understanding of short and long vowels in word families, while reviewing beginning and ending letter sounds, and. Students will develop emergent reading skills, as well as practice writing simple words and sentences. PHONICS B Focus: short and long vowels (CVC/CVCe words and word families) .

'Reading through
Fairytales B'
In Sight Words B, students will further strengthen their reading skills by memorizing and practicing 100 more sight words. The reading and writing activities, as well as games, students will increase their ability to read independently.

'Reading & Writing
with Phonics C'
In Phonics C, students will focus on short and long vowel sounds, blends, and digraphs to strengthen their reading skills. Students will build vocabulary and have practice reading books.
Phonics C Focus: short and long vowels (CVC,CVCe words), blends (r, s, l, and n sounds), and digraphs (CH, SH, TH, WH, PH sounds) .

Please transfer to the school account with your child’s name after submitting application form. After payment is confirmed, application reception is completed.

You will need to purchase 2,000 yen/each class a year for materials.

Enrollment&Withdrawal
AfterSchool is scheduled in accordance to the school term. As a rule, all applications must be submitted to the school before the start of new term. Your application will stay valid for the coming terms until we receive your withdrawal notice. Students will be oblige to pay tuition and fees in full for the entire period. We do not accept withdrawal from a class during the term, however, if the student withdraw during the term, no refund of tuition nor bus fee will be made. Please consult the office manager before the start of new term to discuss any unavoidable circumstances and possible changes that may arise.
