The programs include Kids & Moms, ESL, Academic (advanced studies) and Weekend School.
Each class explores different areas in English communication and fosters an interactive program where students and teachers learn through communication and interaction. Students are allowed to progress in a comfortable, fun environment, providing an enjoyable learning experience.

初心者向け

This program is for students who are learning English for the first time. Through games, songs and by doing various crafts, students will experience the joy of learning English. National Geographic and other colorful age-appropriate textbooks will be used to build basic English skills such as listening, reading and speaking.
*Students who successfully complete this course may join our academic program upon assessment and teacher recommendation.

英語に初めて触れる生徒のためのクラスです。ゲームや歌、様々なクラフトを通し、アカデミックだけでなくコミュニケーションや交流を通して英語を学ぶ楽しさを体感します。さらにテキストを使用しリスニング、読解、話す力など英語の基礎力をつけます。

Academic
The international school experience in an afternoon
1st-6th Grade | 1−6年生

Our school uses light and lively National Geographic English language learning series with age-appropriate content that motivates and excites young learners of English and helps them use English as a tool to learn about and interact with the world. By focusing on listening, speaking, and pronunciation, National Geographic workbooks provide young learners of English with key language, skills, and knowledge needed to understand their world - while having fun of course!
In addition, students will learn fun and engaging subjects through Oxford International Primary courses. Students are exposed to new topics to explore their world through reading, class discussions, and group projects. This course is perfect for students looking for an international school experience after school!
*Assessment required for acceptance into this program.

Weekend School

The Weekend School is scheduled every Saturday morning from 9:00am-12:00pm. The program is designed to provide a similar experience as study abroad. It is composed of various activities such as arts and crafts, singing and academic studies for students to learn not only English conversation, but also the development of international senses.

Kids & Moms

This class is for children ages 0 - 3 years old to enjoy music, dance, crafts and games with their parents. This is a great chance to meet other parents and introduce your child to school and other children with fun activities and an engaging Hayama teacher.

このクラスは0~3歳児の子供たちが保護者と共に、歌(リトミック)・踊り・クラフト・ゲームなど様々なアクティビティを行うことで、外国人講師、英会話の環境に、自然に慣れ親しみ、違和感なく日本語以外の言語(英語)を受け入れることができるようにプログラムされています。

入校・退校について
すべてのプログラムはターム制となっており、原則、一度お申し込みいただいたクラスについては退校の届け出がない限り次のタームも自動継続となります。学期途中の入校は各クラスに空きがある場合のみ受付致します。やむを得ない理由でターム途中で退校する場合は、そのタームの開始前までにスタッフへご相談下さい。ターム途中で退学の届け出が出された場合は、ターム終了までの授業料の支払い義務が生じますのでご注意下さい。

In this class students will learn the basics of written and spoken English. In addition to practicing basic conversation, students will learn letters names and sounds and upper/lower case letters. First grade level phonics will be introduced, including beginning and ending sounds, consonant blends, and long and short vowel sounds. In addition to learning to apply the rules of phonics for better reading, speaking and pronunciation, students will also apply these skills to writing. High-frequency words will also be introduced to develop fluency. Students will learn to read well known Folk & Fairy Tales with simple text and supportive pictures to help build students’ reading skills and confidence.

The goals of this class are to help students speak basic English phrases through joyful interactions, playful learning, exploration and experimentation, along with manipulating materials and musical instruments. Basic English skills will be introduced: alphabet, letter name and sounds, colors, numbers, shapes, feelings; basic vocabulary (playground, weather, city and street, toys) calendar, matching, stories, and high frequency words. Each term will have different themes and new vocabularies.

Dance & Movement Can you travel from Egypt to India and back to Japan in a single dance class? At Hayama you can! Learn traditional and popular dances from around the world. Create ethnic dance costumes and show off your skills on the dance floor. Not only will you learn dances from various countries, but also increase your stamina with Zumba and learn patience and mindfulness through yoga and stretching. Learning dance and song not only builds muscle coordination, but also builds vocabulary and strengthens memory. Come and join the fun while learning about a whole new world of dance!

Cooking & Creations Discover the world through cooking and the arts! Enjoy recipes from around the world while learning practical skills such as math and vocabulary. Become inspired by crafts and traditions. What other important life skills should we learn as global citizens? How do children live and learn across the globe? Not only will you learn cooking and crafting, but valuable communication and critical thinking skills. Come and try making creations from various countries while learning valuable skills that can be used for a lifetime!

Science & STEM What would happen if...? Did you know that all scientists start out with this curiosity? Bring your own curiosity and wonder and try your hand at various science experiments and STEM projects to learn about the nature of our world. Experimenting and creating develop a child's resourcefulness, particularly their skills at goal setting, planning and problem solving. Acquire new ways of asking questions and understanding the world. Use your senses, explore nature, try out science equipment, and share your discoveries with your Hayama friends!

ESL for Kindergarten This ESL for BEGINNERS class provide students the opportunity to learn and explore the basic literacy in English in a fun and creative learning environment. We will provide progressive basic conversation exercises and activities that will help your child prepare for the next level. This program is designed to develop their English language including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through active learning content instruction. We use the BIG PRESCHOOL Workbook by School Zone. It is a great book for establishing prewriting skills like tracing lines before diving into drawing letters and numbers. This is great resource for learning ABCs, numbers, and colors. It has a good color graphics in every page which is bright and engaging.

ESL for Elementary Three hours of this Saturday class give us ample amount of time to implement the school philosophy of Play, Think and Learn! The goal is to have as much fun as possible and learn, explore, and acquire basic daily life English skills. We will learn to read and build skills in phonics, vocabulary, first grade writing, spelling, reading comprehension, logic and problem solving. First grade math with place values, telling time will also be introduced. This class will use games, rhymes, and songs, as well as active play, and fun arts and crafts projects to deepen students’ understanding and vocabulary.

We use textbooks from National Geographic that focus on Language Arts, Science, Math, and Social Studies. We also have creative language-based activities to help the kids get comfortable in using English with communicating to teachers and peers. This includes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), Drama, Cooking, and more.

KEAPKids English Adventure Programs

K.E.A.P. is a program refers to the classes of non-regular class such as Kids & Moms, ESL, S.E.E.D., and Weekend School etc…
The goal of K.E.A.P. is to help students develop successful English communication skills through various courses of study. Each program and class utilizes the four basic tools of English to improve students’ abilities to communicate: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

CLASS

ESL

This class is for students who are learning English for the first time. Through games and songs, and by doing various crafts, students will experience the joy of learning English. Textbooks will also be provide to help build basic English skills such as listening, reading and speaking. (Two hours a week)

S.E.E.D.

The goal of S.E.E.D. (Successful English Education Development) is to help students develop successful English communication skills through various courses of study. Each program and class utilizes the four basic tools of English to improve students’ abilities to communicate: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Kids & Moms

This class is designed for 0-3 years old kids and their parents to learn English together. Through games and songs, and by doing various crafts, students will experience the joy of learning English with their parents.

Weekend School

The Weekend School is scheduled every Saturday morning from 9:00am-12:00pm. The program is designed to have similar experience as study abroad. The program is composed of various activities such as arts and crafts, singing and worksheets for students to learn not only English conversation, but can also build their international senses which is one of the objectives of the class.

Recreation

There are combined recreational activities such as Halloween party and annual field trip for After School and Weekend School classes. (Need participation fee separately.) The details will be informed separately in due course.

~Tuition Payment~
Payment arrangements are available for you to choose either payment by term or by monthly installment. Payment by term is due by the 25th of the month before the start of each term and the 25th of the prior month in case of monthly payment. In addition to the tuition, admission and processing fee will be also charged.~
~Extend Stay Fee~
Please call the office for details of the bus schedule. No discount of the bus fee is applied for one way ride.

~Enrollment & Withdrawal~
After and Weekend schools are scheduled in accordance to the school term. As a rule, all applications must be submitted to the school before the start of new term. Your application will stay valid for the coming terms until we receive your withdrawal notice. Students will be oblige to pay tuition and fees in full for the entire period. We do not accept withdrawal from a class during the term, however, if the student withdraw during the term, no refund of tuition nor bus fee will be made. Please consult the office manager before the start of new term to discuss any unavoidable circumstances and possible changes that may arise.

S.E.E.D.

SUCCESSFUL ENGLISH EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

S.E.E.D. is an after school program deigned to maintain and advance English communication for students who already have achieved basic level of English education. Each program and class utilizes the four basic tools of English to improve students abilities to communicate: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.

Grammar/Writing Program (Level A B C)

The goals of the Grammar/Writing program are to teach students in the proper way to organize and deliver English communication. Throughout the full program, students will learn sentence parts and structure, punctuation, word order and different parts of speech in order to create and deliver clear, smooth ideas in English. All of these parts of English will be applied to both written and spoken forms of communication.

Vocabulary/Spelling Program (Level A B C)

The goals of the Vocabulary/Spelling program are to increase students’ usable vocabulary, grow their use of phonics and improve English listening. Throughout the year students will continue to learn new words, definitions and correct use. They will also apply phonics through a variety of activities like spelling competitions and vocabulary games. Most activities will be spoken, improving students’ comfort and confidence with spoken English.

S-K Support (For SK Student)

The Senior Kinder Support program is created to give Senior Kindergarten students extra instruction in the subjects of phonics and numbers. Whether they need extra help catching up, more exposure to the English language or want a little more to improve their studies, the S-K Support program will help advance students’ understanding of both phonics and numbers.

SUCCESSFUL ENGLISH EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

Earth Science Level A

The earth is an interesting place. Who does not want to know how a volcano works? How storms begin? Why do we have earthquakes? During this class, students will learn all these things and more. Studying in English, they will learn all about the amazing earth and why so many fascinating things happen.

General Science Level A

Science is more than just a class of study; it is a way of thinking. During this class, students will learn all about the scientific method and way of thought. Studying in English and using simple experiments, they will gain new thoughts and problem solving skills as they become young scientists.

World Geography Level B

World Geography is a class that will take students on a trip around the world. The focus of the class is to provide students with the basic understanding where different places are around the world and how they relate to home. Studying in English, students will learn different vocabulary about the world, what different kinds of geographical places there are and some interesting cultural facts about the places they study.

Animal Science Level B

Learning about life on Earth is fun. Animal Science is all about understanding the animals humans rely on for food, labor, and friendship. Studying in English, students will gain new knowledge about different groups of animals around the world. This class will take you to the amazing world of Animals!

World Literature Level C

Literature is a form of art full of passion and heart. It serves as a way to enrich our minds and presents a way to improve the world. To write you have to read and to read you have to think, criticize, and wonder. Reading, writing, comprehension, analysis, and interpretation are the basic principles we learn in this class.

World History Level C

From the Ice Age to the French Revolution, and from the invention of the wheel to the Moon landing… etc,. We will learn When and Where the most important events and movements in world history happened.
